Tyrone is the Food Service Manager and Stephanie is a nurse in the ship hospital. Our boys, Tytus and Ezra, are attending school on board. [Read our story on the About Us page!]
Working in Africa the ship provides FREE care to those in desperate need. Removing tumors, giving sight to the blind, correcting clefts, fixing fractures, and more!
Almost 50% of people in Africa have no access to a hospital or doctor. Children, teens, and adults suffer and die every day from curable or treatable causes. One child in eight will die before age 5.
- Babies born with cleft lip and palate more often than not die from malnutrition
- Tumors grow until they are grotesque which causes disabilities, or threaten lives
- Cataracts blind children and adults keeping them from an education and jobs
- Lack of treatment or a simple surgery leads to complications, lifelong disability or death
- Many family, friends, and community believe they are “cursed” and reject them from society
And the best part? Mercy Ships shares the Gospel and shows the love of Jesus to thousands that come through every year for help!
