7 Things That Bring Donors Long Term Satisfaction! #6 Involvement

Involvement. What does that look like?
Donors do a lot for their favorite charity. (Source: Charity Dynamics | NTEN BenchMark Report)
Donors were asked what they do for their favorite charity, and with what frequency.
  • Donors (55%) reported that they donate once or a few times per year.
  • Many (36%) said they volunteer at least once per year, and perhaps more often.
  • A significant group (32%) said they take part in fundraising events at least once per year.
  • 29% fund-raise on behalf of the charity at least once per year for their favorite charity.
Invitations to visit charities (Source: NPCNYS.org "What Donors Want Handout")
  • 72% of study donors have been invited on site to one or more charities they support to see their work first hand
  • 77% of this group said it is appealing and the invitation is appreciated even when they are unable to go
Donors found the most realistic thing they could do for their favorite charity is making a donation.
How involved do you want to be?
Volunteer!  Volunteering and events are “gateway drugs.” Almost 75 percent of those who volunteered say they are more likely to donate. Millennials especially (by 52%) are most likely to donate after volunteering. (Source The Non-Profit Times - Donor Loyalty Study)
Get your friends and family involved with your favorite charity. Encouraged others to donate and volunteer! Forward emails and newsletters. Share content from your favorite charity on your social networks. These things are easy to do!
With Mercy Ships, you can be involved through:
  • Corporate Giving
  • Workplace Giving
  • Planned Giving
  • Appreciated Assets
  • Foundation Giving
  • Support a Crew Member (which we talked about in an earlier post!)
  • Volunteering - Volunteering will be our families level of involvement.
Consider supporting a crew member or family with Mercy Ships. This allows you a personal connection, an inside source, and direct involvement with volunteers as well as supporting the charity!
Whether you make a one-time donation of $5 or plan a fundraising gala, Thank you for your involvement!
